Sterling Consulting Services has experience in the successful negotiation of labor agreements with many AFL-CIO affiliated unions including: The Teamsters, United Food & Commercial Workers, Seafarers, United Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees, Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers and The United Steelworkers.

We have developed a contract costing model which will give you on the spot cost projections of union proposals and provide you with the opportunity to project costs of your counter proposals.

We can facilitate a proven, organized approach to preparation for negotiations involving key personnel in your organization which will provide your company with a distinct advantage at the bargaining table.

SCS has the capability to provide behind the scenes assistance or to be your chief spokesperson at all negotiating sessions. We will work with you to decide what is the best approach for your situation.

With over seventeen years of grievance handling experience SCS can be your labor relations consultant for grievance responses. We make sure that you are positioning yourself in the best manner possible in the event that the grievance continues on to arbitration.

We can represent your company at the grievance meetings in an attempt to either resolve the grievance or convince the union to withdraw the grievance.

SCS can provide an analysis of your grievance history to determine what or if you have a problem in your relationship with your employees and their union leadership (this will also provide valuable information in preparation for the next round of contract negotiations).

In the event that a grievance is headed to arbitration, SCS can provide you with a skilled and experienced individual to prepare your team for the arbitration. This can include an analysis of the grievances history, review and selection order of the arbitrator panel, outline of the company position, preparation of the company witnesses, questions to be asked of the union witnesses, as well as pre and post-arbitration briefs and opening statements.

Having been through numerous arbitration cases, we can also be present to provide you with representation at the actual arbitration hearing as the company spokesperson.

Sometimes union and company officials need to have an experienced, neutral outside party provide them with an opinion on issues or to facilitate a meeting between the parties. While these opinions are not binding they may be able to get both sides to thinking about a resolution. We provide this service which is much less expensive than an arbitration or lawsuit.

At SCS, we can provide you a full service labor relations department when you need it. This way you do not incur the overhead costs of matching payroll taxes and benefit costs. We can talk directly to you managers and supervisors or be a resource for your Human Resources department. You decide and we will work with your organization to provide the most cost effective and appropriate service.
